Italian Bikes
If variety is the spice of life, this mixture
of bikes is
Chile de Arbol!

Carl Liebold races his 1955 Moto Rumi Bicarburatore through the streets
of Sicily in 2004. He has
twice finished 4th in class in the 1000-mile Motogiro D'Italia.

Above is Carl's 125cc Moto Rumi at repose. This two-stroke twin is extremely rare, especially in California, where it now lives. Modern is good, too. Above right is Carl's 2000 Ducati Monster 900S.

Two shots of the 250cc bevel-drive single Carl restored. Read more about his bikes
and racing exploits at:

Scott Potter's Laverda

Above: Patrick Ma's 2006 Ducati Sport Classic 1000 looks fast even when parked.
Left: Patrick's 1969 BMW R69S. We know. We know. It's not Italian,
but it is a classic and a beauty in its own right.

Tom Hardy's Italian bike, a 1978 GIOS Torino with
Campagnolo gruppo.
When we asked for "bike" photos, we meant motorcycles, but what the heck.
Brian Harper's 1980 Moto Guzzi CX100, painted Toyota MR2 yellow. It has the tach from an Alfa Spider in
a custom dashboard designed by Brian. He fabricated bar mounts to replace the clip ons. The alternator
cover is from a Guzzi Eldorado. Custom vinyl decals on the side say LeMans II, but it is really a CX100;
the real LeMans II wasn't sold in the USA. It also has a lightened flywheel, the airbox was replaced by
individual
filters, and the throttle was replaced by faster action aftermarket unit.
Left: Brian's 1976 Vespa 200 Rally. He writes: "Main modifications have involved removing a bunch of parts to fix the front brakes five years ago and never putting it back together. This is how basket cases start."
Below: Brian's 1974 Ducati 750GT, repainted Nissan Sentra Red. "Non originale modifications include an o-ring chain, Dyna electronic ignition, a headlight that lights up the road ahead at night, and a non-stock rear tire size."
